Roosters Rock

A lot of my friends are roosters this year including myself. My birthday JUST made it before the Lunar New Year calendar – for the longest period of time, I thought I was born in the year of the dog. To show some chicken love for the New Year, I’ve devised a list of some of my favorite  21st-century chickens that I randomly stumbled across.

1. The Chickens from Resident Evil 4

The Resident Evil games are my favorite (currently playing the latest RE7 on the ps4) and in Resident Evil 4 I remember spotting chickens running around innocently as depicted in the screenshot. Don’t worry they weren’t infected by the zombie virus but if you shot them you’d get a healing egg. I didn’t shoot them anyway. The chickens helped shed a little light on the dark nature of this series.

2. Los Pollos Hermanos

Those times Gus and Walt would go about their business in this fictional fast food chain. As a Breaking Bad fan I would LOVE to see this fried chicken chain open up in real life. Their chicken looks so good, you forget their meetings are about drugs because the crispy chicken gets in the way.

3. Torchic

You wouldn’t recognize this Pokemon if you only followed the 1st generation category like me. I only recall Torchic as one of the first pokemons you choose from Pokemon Ruby on the Gameboy advanced. I found Torchic and Mudkip the cutest.

4. The Chicken from Orange is the New Black

My favorite chef from OITNB once said: “All I ever wanted was to eat that chicken, that is smarter than the other chickens and absorb its power”. It was the only chicken featured in the series and potentially the tastiest for the inmates. After 4 seasons, it still hasn’t been caught.

5. Crossy Road

I’ve never played this game on the iPhone. I only started playing it a couple of weeks ago on our Apple TV and after this experience  I think it’s better to stick with the phone instead. I’m hopeless with the Apple TV remote. Besides that I can’t get enough of the look of the chicken in this game!

Finally, I drew a Rooster a while back as part of a family Chinese zodiac drawing. The rooster gave me the toughest time to draw in comparison to the other animals I drew next to it. Will I ever draw a rooster again? Most likely not.
